Is every manager a Creative Manager?

He has made great designs, he is really creative person….”

This is what commonly heard sentence everywhere. Creativity is always associated with Art. According to dictionary creativity is defined as “ability to create”. But as a rule it is always being associated with some kind of art and this is commonly known funda.

When it comes to create the thing is just not repeating the things which are commonly done. When a cricketer tries to play a shot very differently to place the shot in the fore seen gap is also creativity. When a businessman tries to develop newer ways to bring business to his firm he is creative. When a C. A. tries to use different ways to manipulate the accounts and expenses in order to minimize taxation for his fir or client, he is creative there.

A Financial portfolio manager or investment banker should creatively invest the funds so as to gain more and more profits in least time and least investment. Here the creativity matters.

A operations manager should use some technique in order reduce the production cost, time, increase quality and efficiency. Here the creativity matters.
What the business school lack today is teaching the students that management is art too. the faculty always try to teach the student the management subject as science (or in simple language the ideal  process to do a thing). This leaves all-time-famous debate topic “management is a art or science” one sided. Thus student who are very intelligently studying to enter the b-school forget thinking out of the box and keep on applying various management fundas everywhere possible.

People (especially management student and faculty) should know that management is basically an art of managing the business or anything else. This art is studied well in order to know how better it can be done and then it is made as science and taught. The books/ theories what we read at b-schools are the extracts of various cases that the management thinkers studied and then made. The students hardly try to apply or see the applications of these management theories in real life and hence just understand what author is trying to say and just reciprocate in paper. Otherwise any marketing student who has studied the subject like sales management, brand management, Integrated Marketing Communication, etc cannot sell himself to any company? He cannot create his image which the company would like to employ and give deserving package? He cannot understand what should he put in his CV to be more attractive to the employer?  If this is the scene then the person has not learnt MARKETING even a little.

Faculty who is teaching consumer behaviour get frustrated by behaviour or students (not alone his lecture is responsible students equally are). When we can think about the consumer behaviour then in class for a faculty the student is the consumer and he is the service provider, so judge the behaviour of the consumer and offer the service in accordance. In this nor the consumer nor the service provider should be at loss.

Here comes in to view the topic we started with “CREATIVITY”. This can help the faculty to learn from students and deliver the things which he can reciprocate. This can help the student to learn the theories with right application which he can apply and utilize for his own and social benefits.
But how it can help???

This is matter of individual situation and can be learnt only by one way, making himself/herself CREATIVE.
One thing what we can search/learn is how to be more creative. Like everything else, we have to start practicing even before we learn it completely. Trying to learn new thing is best way to train our brain to be more creative.

Finally, just give a thought to this,

“If we are not managers are not creative enough then what are they for? Because everything if done according to theories then we can develop software for the same. Then what are we there, to reduce human errors?”

“If the teachers/ Faculty cannot understand the creativity in teaching then cant their job be done by video lectures?”

Be creative. It is next most important quality after being Proactive.

A Dreamer in Mumbai

"Mumbai... The City Of Dreams" This is what people tell about Mumbai. Which is exactly true. People come to Mumbai with passion to fulfill their dreams. But somewhere most of them end-up struggling to even survive.  Every morning this dreamer starts his day with a enthusiasm and will to take another step towards his dream. Then he struggles all day to catch a train then bus or auto rickshaw or taxi. And many times till he reach his office and start working, he has almost lost that feeling What remains is the sense to at-least do well in the job he is doing for living, after all we have all our life to fulfill dreams. Again through same struggle way back. He somehow reaches home, makes his dinner, and as he tries to reach out to rest, the clock says 'time to bed' . In the bed he thinks of the of his dream, how he cultivated it through years, and what he is doing now, He thinks of so little time left, because his father is going to retire next year, the loans f

Association: How vital is it?

“Wow, Tide ki safedi!!! Anything special in office?”                My friend asked me while I was leaving for office today wearing my new plain while shirt. Something struck me, how easily he associated with Tide brand even when other brands are too promoting it with same “whitening power” positioning. May be, because; “Tide” did a good job of associating themselves with “whites” only.                 The Association is been basic funda in the human behavior. We tend to associate and co-relate the different ideas/things/events with each other. Actually how we correlate these together only decides how we will behave with it.                  For example, let’s consider the addiction to Smoking , some people can easily loose the addiction while some try hard but still fail to do so. We blame this on the will power or extent of addiction. But if we see many of those who easily get reed of smoking, have associated smoking with fun, attitude or other non essential emotio

Marketing Sense Isn't the Same as Common Sense

--An article by Al Ries is chairman of Ries & Ries(http://www.ries.com/) Each year, hundreds of graduate schools of business turn out thousands of marketing people. When they arrive on the scene, these newly minted marketers want to make their mark. So they dismiss their advertising agencies and hire new ones. They revamp the marketing plans, even including new systems of compensation for the sales force. They change names, logos, slogans and strategy statements. Welcome to the world of marketing. This happens every year, usually around budget time. Actually I didn't write these paragraphs this year. I wrote them 16 years ago in an article published in the June 19, 1994, issue of The New York Times. Headline: "Marketers, Stop Your Tinkering." That was also the year a USA Today panel of top ad agency creative directors named Little Caesars as the "best ad campaign of 1994." Maybe you remember the Cliff Freeman & Partners campaign.
