Think beyond!!!!

The leaders are born not made…

This is always said and has been proven wrong by many of the great leaders. The leadership quality is the effect of the environment in which the child is grown. The common observation that a boy from marvadi or gujrati family thinks of starting a business and is most of times he is successful. This is interpreted as the business is in the blood of the marvadi n gujrathi. A south Indian is always proved to be good person in any technical field may it be IT or any engineering field. They are considered to be born with great intellect. A person born in the family of an artist is brought up in the environment where there is great appreciation for the art and everything related to art is around the child and the thinking and liking of the child starts growing around art.

Why people are afraid to accept the change? Every person in world has quality to excel in something but the tragedy is that very few are able to explore the opportunities and find that “SOMETHING”. Dhirubhai Ambani, the businessman whose example is almost every time given in inspirational book/ video/ lecture for establishing his empire from being the son of a school teacher in s small village of Gujarat. It is really inspirational that a son of teacher, who worked for son Oil Company in turkey, come to India and starts his business with textile industry. There is in fact no relation between these professions/ industries but what worked for dhirubhai was his ability to learn and this was the attitude, he acquired during his brought-up in family of a teacher. When dhirubhai started his business the regulation over were very less and most importantly nobody else was ready to start the business since it was newly independent India. The mentality of the people born during the period British rule hardly gave anybody even Idea to do so. Apart from this he had learnt the business processes in turkey by observing the businessmen there, which gave him the upper edge over the local old businessmen in independent India.

Thus, the overall view tell us that it’s just the ability of dhirubhai to explore new areas and the situation gave him the clean track to speed-up his way to success. Metaphorically it can be said that, he explored the way to find the right parts of puzzle and the situation and luck made it look like all parts of the jigsaw puzzle were close enough.

The situation of the middle class, mainly leaving in small town or villages is that they do not try to explore the ways so to find the area where they can find all related parts of puzzle together. They stick to the few parts they found and proudly say “one in hand is better than to in the bush”.

The mentality of the middle class from small town, don’t let them think beyond few profound career opportunities in the world that can be cashed upon. Any student passing is 10+2 from science is bound to go for engineering or medical and if not possible then pharma /science. If the student from pharma graduation wants to join a advertising industry or (better quote more familiar example) a student from engineering background wants to make career in finance field/banking is called foolish by our extremely talented RANCHO. What if the student is from small town and actually don’t even know what should be done to enter the specific industry? What if the guy has family pressure (obviously, because of small town mentality and lack of awareness) joins an engineering degree and then wants to do something he likes.  Not even industry takes risk to give such person a chance to prove his metal in that field. Why don’t we think beyond??

An electrical engineer from one of the most reputed American university can give his best by the silent physical comedy by becoming Mr. BEAN.

The mentality remains the same; the mechanical engineer opts for operations management only because he has great chance to get selected by the company because of his educational background and not because he wants to learn operations management.

To end with the note that every student should be able to explore the regimes in order to find the right parts of puzzle already close enough to join. The risk taking ability should be there, may it be a calculated risk or intuitive risk.

Simply do not limit yourself. Or you will limit your success!!!

A Dreamer in Mumbai

"Mumbai... The City Of Dreams" This is what people tell about Mumbai. Which is exactly true. People come to Mumbai with passion to fulfill their dreams. But somewhere most of them end-up struggling to even survive.  Every morning this dreamer starts his day with a enthusiasm and will to take another step towards his dream. Then he struggles all day to catch a train then bus or auto rickshaw or taxi. And many times till he reach his office and start working, he has almost lost that feeling What remains is the sense to at-least do well in the job he is doing for living, after all we have all our life to fulfill dreams. Again through same struggle way back. He somehow reaches home, makes his dinner, and as he tries to reach out to rest, the clock says 'time to bed' . In the bed he thinks of the of his dream, how he cultivated it through years, and what he is doing now, He thinks of so little time left, because his father is going to retire next year, the loans f

Association: How vital is it?

“Wow, Tide ki safedi!!! Anything special in office?”                My friend asked me while I was leaving for office today wearing my new plain while shirt. Something struck me, how easily he associated with Tide brand even when other brands are too promoting it with same “whitening power” positioning. May be, because; “Tide” did a good job of associating themselves with “whites” only.                 The Association is been basic funda in the human behavior. We tend to associate and co-relate the different ideas/things/events with each other. Actually how we correlate these together only decides how we will behave with it.                  For example, let’s consider the addiction to Smoking , some people can easily loose the addiction while some try hard but still fail to do so. We blame this on the will power or extent of addiction. But if we see many of those who easily get reed of smoking, have associated smoking with fun, attitude or other non essential emotio

Marketing Sense Isn't the Same as Common Sense

--An article by Al Ries is chairman of Ries & Ries(http://www.ries.com/) Each year, hundreds of graduate schools of business turn out thousands of marketing people. When they arrive on the scene, these newly minted marketers want to make their mark. So they dismiss their advertising agencies and hire new ones. They revamp the marketing plans, even including new systems of compensation for the sales force. They change names, logos, slogans and strategy statements. Welcome to the world of marketing. This happens every year, usually around budget time. Actually I didn't write these paragraphs this year. I wrote them 16 years ago in an article published in the June 19, 1994, issue of The New York Times. Headline: "Marketers, Stop Your Tinkering." That was also the year a USA Today panel of top ad agency creative directors named Little Caesars as the "best ad campaign of 1994." Maybe you remember the Cliff Freeman & Partners campaign.
